A Daughter’s Emotional Tribute

In one of the most touching moments of the evening, Dr. Suspa Das, herself a pain physician and proud daughter of Dr. Das, shared personal anecdotes.

She spoke about witnessing her father’s tireless work ethic, the sacrifices made for patient care, and his unwavering commitment to training other physicians—often at the cost of personal time. She acknowledged the quiet but immense role of Dr. Subhra Das Mistry, Dr. Das’s wife, in managing the administrative responsibilities at Daradia so he could focus on research, teaching, and clinical practice.

Her words offered an intimate glimpse into the human side of a towering professional figure—reminding everyone that behind every award is a lifetime of family support and personal sacrifice.

Dr. Das’s Professional Journey

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Das expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Pain Society, the organizing team, his colleagues, and his family. He reflected on the journey that began when he topped the MD Anesthesia examination at Calcutta University, later transitioning from anesthesiology into a focused career in pain medicine.

Over the years, his achievements have included:

  • Chairman for the India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Iran Chapter of the World Institute of Pain
  • Course Director for numerous accredited training programs in India and abroad
  • Editor-in-Chief and now Emeritus Editor of the Journal of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Pain
  • Pioneer of techniques like Cryoneurolysis of the Sacroiliac Joint, Ozone Nucleolysis, and the world’s first online MSK Ultrasound Simulator for pain physicians

Under his leadership, Daradia became the first center in Asia to win the World Institute of Pain’s “Excellence in Pain Practice” Award in all three categories—research, multidisciplinary care, and physician training.

Educator, Innovator, Visionary
