Dr. Gautam Das, Founder of Daradia: The Pain Clinic, Kolkata, has been conferred the Dr. M. J. Joshi – IMA Bhushan Award by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Pune, during MULTICON 2025.
The Dr. M. J. Joshi Oration and IMA Bhushan Award were instituted in 2014 by Dr. Madhuri Lokapur and her family in memory of her father, Dr. M. J. Joshi, a respected surgeon, teacher, and philanthropist. The award recognises doctors who have made sustained contributions to clinical excellence, medical education, and service to society.
Dr. Gautam Das delivered the prestigious Dr. M. J. Joshi Oration at MULTICON 2025, focusing on the evolution of pain medicine in India, the role of evidence-based interventional pain management, and the importance of structured training programs in improving patient care.
Contribution to Pain Medicine and Education
Dr. Das is regarded as one of the pioneering pain physicians in India. Through Daradia: The Pain Clinic, he established an advanced centre dedicated exclusively to comprehensive pain management. The clinic has received multiple national recognitions for excellence in pain care, education, and innovation.
Over the years, Dr. Das has actively contributed to medical education and capacity building in pain medicine. He has trained more than 3,000 pain physicians through online and offline fellowship programs, cadaveric workshops, hands-on interventional courses, and academic conferences. His teaching initiatives have reached doctors across India and several international locations.
Dr. Das has also published original research in peer-reviewed medical journals, contributing to the evidence base of interventional pain management, regenerative therapies, and clinical pain practice.
